Students and families - what in interesting time we are in right now. I hope everyone is remaining safe and healthy. I wanted to share with you that I have made a page in my website dedicated to Arts Remote Resources for Students, Families, and Educators (see the tab at the top of the page). I will try to update this as much as I can.
I also wanted to share with you some of the AMAZING photos and artwork I have received made by our students' during this time. Each time I get an email with new student work, it reminds me the value of staying positive and creative while taking care of ourselves and our loved ones. I hope these resources can be helpful through this closure. Together, we can stay healthy and creative with fun art activities. Be safe and well and take care of yourselves and one another! - Ms. Morefield

This past week, our class tried out digital photography for the first time. We got to learn all about composition, perspective, and framing, then explored campus through the lens with photo challenges and scavenger hunt. The students (and Ms. Morefield) had a blast taking pictures and getting outside - even a little rain could not stop us!

This week, we decided to slow things down and "get in the zone" with a focus on Zentangle doodles and Mandala designs. Both styles involved peaceful pattern-making and lots of patience! Our students watched sand mandala master-artists at work, practiced pattern making, then got to work on making some pen, ink, and colored pencil mandalas of their own.
Check out this amazing time lapse of a sand mandala in the making! You can also print out your own mandala coloring and design pages here. |
