As we close the end of the school year and distance learning, I asked our students to write an "artist statement" reflecting on the ways in which they grew, overcame challenges, and what they wished for next year - in art and in school. The key words in the above cloud represent some of the highest levels of response out of all the students, and I believe also reflect a rich year of growth and learning despite difficult circumstances. So proud of our AMS Art students and the ways they have persevered through challenges! You may view all the individual responses by clicking here.
For our final project, students visualized their growth in art class by creating an art project focused on a symbol of growth (tree or plant), using a technique or skill from our class - from digital drawing, painting, and photography to shading, color blending, and utilizing the elements and principles. The drawings represent incredible growth and development in these student's personal art styles and in their exploration of what art means to them - great work students!
This week students created works of art focusing on color and color theory, as well as creating color wheels using found objects from their home. Students explore how color impacts emotion and meaning in art, delved into color theory and terminology, and observed how contemporary artists make use of color in their work.
This week, students learned about depth and perspective in art and its many uses from photography to realistic drawing to 2D collage, then created their own perspective scenes and creations. See our student's results below! |
